Ever wonder how to reheat pizza without your pizza getting rock hard? We’ve got a few tips that will help you to enjoy that pizza slice almost as much as you enjoyed the pizza the first time you ordered it! Yes, we know that pizza is never as great as it is when it’s fresh, but it doesn’t have to be rock hard and stale when you reheat it either.
How to Reheat Pizza – Tips From the Professional in Pizza Making
You know exactly what we’re talking about – you order a pie and you can’t finish it all in one sitting, so you put the rest in the fridge for later. Only, now it’s later and you know that reheating that pizza is going to make it rock hard and the crust will all but pierce the roof of your mouth. So, what can you do? Is there a way to reheat pizza so that it’s more than just edible? YES!
First – DON’T USE THE MICROWAVE!
Now, if you prefer to use the oven, preheat your oven to 375ºF. Make sure that your oven is fully preheated – no cheating and putting your pizza in the oven early!
Once the oven is preheated, cover a baking tray with aluminum foil and put the empty tray in the oven to heat it. You want the oven AND your pan/foil to be hot before you begin reheating your pizza – YES, it does make a difference!
Once the baking tray and foil are hot, put your pizza on the baking tray and put it in the oven. Keep an eye on the color of your pizza as it heats, but you should have a perfect heat after ten minutes.
Prefer To Use the Stovetop? put a non-stick skillet on the stove on medium heat and put your pizza in the center of the pan.
After heating for a couple of minutes, splash a COUPLE of drops of water in the pan to the side of the pizza. Now, cover the skillet with a pan lid and let it continue to heat for another few minutes so that the cheese will melt perfectly.
Which method is better? That depends on who you ask! While we tend not to have leftovers when it comes to pizza, when we do have to reheat a slice or two, we tend to use the skillet method. Why the skillet method? Because the cheese gets so deliciously melty and the crust is crisp but not too chewy and certainly not stale.
We’d also be remiss if we didn’t mention cold pizza. You don’t have to reheat pizza! If you’re a cold pizza lover, it’s as simple as opening the fridge and grabbing a slice!
